HISTORY
BUEIFF was founded in 2019 by Roberto I. Ercolalo and Martín Méndez Canaro, two award-winning filmmakers of Italian-Argentine and French-Argentine origin respectively.
Roberto, after having had experience as an international jury member, noticed that the way of evaluating films does not coincide with the philosophy concerning art. So he decides to bring a change to the world of Festivals and this is where Martín joins to create the Buenos Aires International Film Festival, in that province of Argentina.
The Festival has been created to break with the common standards and offer another look, a much purer one and related to the soul of the projects, those that question the way we perceive the world around us.
It is from this revolutionary act that the origin of the logo emerges: an Andean Condor.
A huge bird that flies over the skies of Argentina, higher than any other. This bird is in danger of extinction, like pure cinema, but just because they are few doesn't mean they will stop flying so high.
That is why it has also become the first itinerant festival in Argentina and the world, holding its events in other countries and continents. “With the wings of the Condor, people do not go to the cinema, it is the cinema that travels to people”.
